Support / Plans for Brightness/Contrast for sprites?

Are there any plans to add Brightness and/or Contrast to the tk2d Sprites?  Basically just need a dark sprite to be able to become white as obviously blending with white will just give the original color.  I have tried modifying the BlendVertexColor shader without success.
