Title: Sprites made of sprites?

Hello!
I was wondering if there was an easy way to create sprites made of sprites... So that I can animate eyes separately from the rest and so on for example.
Or do they need to be separated prefabs and then create a hierarchy?

They don't have to be prefabs, just create sprites as children of other sprites in the hierarchy.
