We chose to officially support 2D Toolkit out-of-the-box because it's pretty much (to us at least) the de facto 2D solution for Unity (and because it's super awesome).

U2DEX is designed to go hand-in-hand with 2D Toolkit (or Orthello, even) and deliver an even more streamlined 2D editing experience.  It integrates seamlessly, so once it's imported it "just works".  You can customize nearly everything, of course, but if you just want a solution that works out-of-the-box, this fits the bill.

It's also worth noting that you don't even have to have a 2D solution to use this.  For example, if you want your Unity Cameras to be streamlined for 2D, you can apply U2DEX to the Camera just by typing in the class name.

Questions/Comments are more than welcome, and we're eager to hear everyone's thoughts!

UnfinityGames:
We've just shipped a large update to U2DEX that should be live in the Asset Store in a few days.
To celebrate, the asset is 50% off ($5), for a limited time!

You can read the full changelog here.
We've got some great feedback in the form of emails and reviews, so thanks to everyone who's using U2DEX!  We love hearing your experiences!

As always, questions and comments are more than welcome!

UnfinityGames:
We just received the notification that the 1.10 update is live!

All of the changes listed in the above post are now applied for new purchases.  If you've already purchased U2DEX, you'll need to download the update from the Asset Store and import the new package.

Also, don't forget, it's still 50% off!

Saxi:
Just picked it up.

Looks pretty cool, I like the simplified Transform.  I wish Unity had a way to just allow you to have default editor extensions in place so you don't have to import them for every project.

As far as I can see, the three things you get are:

Modified Transform Panel in Inspector
Grid Tool
Snapping Tool for Grid Tool

Are these just UI  changes, does it affect final build in anyway?
Are you adding any other features?

Thanks!  We're glad you like it!  Having U2DEX be auto-imported on new projects would be great -- maybe Unity will get something like that in the future.

Correct, you get the three things you mentioned (although the Transform Inspector has multiple things going for it, like the rotation, scale and layer filter).  There's also the Applicable Classes that allow you to apply the Transform Inspector to any named class. (Like the Unity Camera)  Also, don't forget that the Snap tool can be used without the Grid tool, and vice versa.  They just work best in tandem, but it's not mandatory to use both at the same time.

At its core, this is an Editor Extension, so nothing will currently affect the actual game's build or anything like that.

We've got some ideas for future versions, and a list of things we'd like to add, but we're not sure if/when features will be added.  We'll keep everyone updated as we finalize features and such, so don't worry about being left out of the loop.

Thanks for supporting U2DEX!  Let us know if you've got any other questions/comments/ideas!
